Consciousness studies at HU include a balance of both conceptual and experiential approaches. The study of consciousness is a vast field that explores foundational aspects of body, mind, and spirit. The ultimate question for many is whether consciousness is confined to the brain, or whether it resides in a non-physical, multidimensional “mind” that has no physical limitations. The phrase that most clearly resonates with the the HU philosophy might be, “All of the body is in the mind, but not all of the mind is in the body.”This simply means that conditions in the body are often created by the thoughts we think, and yet the mind also has the ability to expand beyond the body to participate in non-local phenomena. Many of our students have studied holistic healing approaches such as Reiki and many enter our program as seasoned meditators.HU’s faculty includes outstanding contributors and pioneers in the field of integrated medicine and alternative medicine.A number of the courses include conceptual and experiential materials based on the transformative aspects of transpersonal psychology. Our courses all have components based in the use of intuition and the study of consciousness.
