The mystical traditions of virtually all religions contain substantial references that address the subtle physical energies of the body, the transpersonal aspects of the mind, and the expressive activity of the spirit. HU emphasizes ecumenical spiritual approaches that fulfill a growing need for an inclusive, holistic, and creative approach to life in contemporary communities.
HU is an official, post-graduate school of the All Faiths Church of Spirituality and Health, an incorporated Missouri church, and operates in compliance with the laws of the State of Missouri. Ordination is an option for Masters and Doctoral students. For a further description, see the site map for "Ordination".
Degrees offered are the Master of Theology (ThM) and the Doctor of Theology (ThD). HU operates within an annual two-semester system. Requirements for first-semester degree students includes a residential Orientation Course that is offered during Campus Week at the Unity Village Campus. Most courses offered are entirely distance learning. However, certain courses require attendance at brief (1 to 3-Day) Residency Components.
In addition to conferring the Basic ThM and ThD degrees, HU offers an opportunity for Special Emphasis degrees in four categories; Integrative Healthcare, Medical Intuition, Spiritual Direction, and Transformational Psychology. HU also offers Certificates in the above categories for courses of study done under its Easy-Access Certificate Program, and specially designated Honorary degrees to recognize exceptional life work in the field of spiritual healing.
