PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS AND COMMUNITY ALLIANCES

Participating in a Professional organization of one’s choice provides many opportunities for net-working, publishing, informative reading, and for having stimulating discussion about specific interests. The following are organizations with whom the HU faculty and students tend to be involved.

ISSSEEM - Bridging Science and Spirit http://www.issseem.org

(International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine)

   ISSSEEM was founded in the fall of 1989 in order to explore the application of subtle energies to the experience of consciousness, healing, and human potential. Of particular interest to HU students are ISSSEEM’s publications in support of studies about the subtle energy realms that often include references to chakras, energy meridians, and other electromagnetic and subtle energy phenomena.
   HU’s relationship with ISSSEEM dates from 2001, when the University’s first Catalog featured a page describing ISSSEEM and its referred Journal, Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine. Students have been encouraged to submit their research to the Journal and, in 2005, ISSSEEM published Volume Sixteen No. 2, a comprehensive collection of extended abstracts drawn from the dissertation projects of HU graduates.
   The Society’s publications include, Bridges, a magazine published quarterly as a professional resource for practitioners and individuals who are interested in the study of informational systems and energies that interact with the human psyche and physiology, either enhancing or perturbing healthy homeostasis. Student submissions are welcomed by this magazine. Students may also apply to present their work at the annual meeting.
   Although ISSSEEM does provide opportunities for HU students, students should never feel that participation in this or any other organization is in any way required as part of their study at HU.

Additional excellent publications that provide an opportunity for submission of articles and/or research are: The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, Alternative Therapies, the International Journal of Healing and Caring (on-line), and the Journal of Transpersonal Psychology. Religious and spiritual publications also provide opportunity for submission of articles, for instance the Science of Mind magazine and Venture Inward. We at Holos University are always interested in hearing of students' publications and presentations. We like to learn of the new frontiers to which HU students are contributing.
