Building Community at HU

Although HU has a considerable proportion of distance learning in its programs, excellent ways are provided for building connections and community among students, faculty, and staff. One of the greatest benefits of the HU program is to be able to share time and ideas with like-minded persons.

RESIDENCIES
During the short residencies that are required for some courses, students have an opportunity to become well acquainted and to enjoy each other's company. Degree students get to know classmates during the orientation (ORP) course at the beginning of their first semester. We recommend that students take one or two residencies that first semester in order to gain a sense of community. See Campus Week.

CLASSROOM PROTOCOL
In many courses students get to know one another better through lively Conference Call discussions and by participating in peer-review activities related to assignments.

HU NEWSLETTER
The newsletter is published twice a year. It contains articles and pictures that describe the activities of our students, fauclty, staff, and alumni. All students are encouraged to contribute to the newsletter. Contributions are to be sent to: AcademicsDean@HolosUniversity.org
