General
Distance Learning Holos University uses blended distance learning in which most of the academic learning is done working with instructors using email, conference calls, and webinars. There are a few core courses that require attendance at a 1 - 3 day residency program. Most residencies take place the second month of each semester during Campus Week at Unity Village, Missouri. Distance learning is an organized teaching and learning system specifically designed to be carried out remotely by using electronic communication. Computers and the internet have made possible an educational system that does not require students to spend extended periods of time away from their jobs or homes in order to complete a program of study. Since most of the educational exchange at HU is distance learning, the university is able to offer programs that are more easily accessed throughout the U.S. and internationally. The distance learning technologies currently used by HU are:
At HU there is ample student-teacher interaction, and the instructors provide students with appropriate and timely feedback. The HU Program does include courses with brief and inspiring residential components facilitated by pioneers in the field of energy medicine and holistic healing. These brief residencies assure that students gain supervised experience with personal development and energy medicine approaches while enjoying a greater sense of community amongst other students and the faculty. Thus, engaging in a study program at HU will include some travel time and expense. Residencies are from one to three days in length. A description of the length and location of residency components is accessible on the site map under “Residencies”. |
