Open to All students 

703: Orientation & Preparation (OrP) 
OrP is designed to provide new students with the information and skills necessary for successful completion of their HU studies.   Download Syllabus

715: Ethics - History and Practice 
Distance Learning. This course is required of all students including Certificate students. Therapists, Intuitive Counselors, and Energy and Spiritual Healers face a host of ethical and legal issues which are not experienced in most other professions.  Download Syllabus   

718: Research Literature Review in Spirituality and Health 
Distance Learning. This course is required for all students doing a Research Masters or Doctorate degree. Distance Learning. In this course students will create together a review of research literature with an overview of the field and opportunities for in-depth exploration.

727: History of Science - A Spiritual Overview  
This class explores the relationship of sensory perception and interpretation on our concepts of reality. Students are introduced to the scientific method, its origin, innate strengths and limitations. Each student will be guided through independent exploration of historical texts and scholarly historical studies, significant contemporary investigations, and pertinent peer review.  Download Syllabus

731:  Inner Counselor - Pathways to Awareness 
The primary goal of this course is to provide tools for self-directed
on-going awareness of the very ground of one’s being – that which is anchored in the duality of physical existence and that which is eternal and has no boundaries.  Download Syllabus

737: Quantitative Research Methods 
Students may petition the instructors if an exception is required to avoid delay in their progress toward the degree they are seeking. As an
innovative, hands-on approach for understanding basic research design and methodology, this course presents a conceptual overview that provides a broad understanding of scientific research in the emerging field of holistic and spiritual healing.  Download Syllabus

742:  Holistic Healthcare Approaches - Perspectives and Modalities  |  
The goal of this course is to learn about some of the many healing systems utilized today which focus on the person as a whole, within a particular context. Class meetings will be used to discus specified healing systems, with assigned reading. Students will then do an in-depth exploration of a previously discussed topic. Students will use the internet and available libraries to select journal articles, thesis and dissertations and foundational books as resources to write these explorations. They will write a series of three papers on their selected topics over the course of the semester. There will also be a final project on either a previously discussed topic or one that has been approved.  Download Syllabus

752:  Mysticism - Ancient to New Thought 
This course provides a survey of Mystics and Mysticism across the major religious traditions of Hinduism,  Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Faculty and students explore the language and
experience of “beloving” (as opposed to believing), as it has been expressed by mystics from the Ancient Past to the Post-Modern Era.  Download Syllabus

757: Holistic Theology
Holistic Theology provides an in-depth study of the world’s great religions – Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism and Islam; an opportunity to study the indigenous spirituality of Native Americans, South Americans and African cultures or to study ancient and new religions of personal interest such as Baha’i, Seventh-Day Adventist, Jainism, Science of Mind and Quaker faiths. 767:  Statistical Methods in Research 
This course is best taken following 994-Capstone (during which students create a simulated abstract and form an understanding of their
dissertation research project.) Students should not enroll in this course until their research topic is clearly established.  Download Syllabus

Masters students complete their degree with 6 units of either 780 or 790

780: Thesis Research & Thesis  
Students begin their study by fulfilling all other core requirement courses. During the completion of these courses, the student requests the appointment of the Chair and the Committee. Students enrolled in the Masters with Thesis Program prepare a faculty approved thesis proposal.  Download Syllabus

790: Masters Essays and Exam
This course is the final course for Masters Degree Options II and III described on page 15 of the catalog. Option II students select a probable topic at OrP for the Essays and complete a tentative Program Schedule
(PSF), selecting electives that support that topic.  Download Syllabus

810: Spiritual Contracts 
​An introduction to Medical and Counseling Intuition, Spiritual Contracts explores the human energy field or bio-field; cultivates and develops intuitive senses; studies the relationship between spiritual, emotional and physical health-related issues; identifies natal archetypal information and archetypal patterns; and integrates these course insights into an existential view of one’s soul purposes or spiritual contracts. Spiritual Contracts principles may then be applied to one’s personal life and to a spiritual healing practice  Download Syllabus

816: Past Life  Therapy Part 1 (R - Off Campus)  
Students experience the benefit of a personal Past Life Therapy
session as well as observe the effects of the technique on other students.  Download Syllabus

817: Past Life  Therapy Part 2 (R - Off Campus) 
This course is open to those who have successfully completed Part I of Past Life Therapy (816).  Download Syllabus

838: Personal Intuition an Energy Management
Students will complete an in-depth study of intuition, clairvoyant abilities and energy management. We will move from an intellectual  understanding of what intuition is, and techniques that can be used in everyday life, to an intuitive understanding and experience of clairvoyant abilities and how to manage the personal energy system.  Download Syllabus

843:  Emotions and Intuition 
This course presents a framework for understanding how the body communicates feelings, emotions, and perceptions thereby creating either conflict with the mind or truth.  Download Syllabus843.pdf

845:  Subtle Energies & Energy Medicine Practicum
Note:  This course is offered only in conjunction with the ISSSEEM Conference.  This course is an in-depth experience and follow-up study
based on attendance at the ISSSEEM Conference.  Download Syllabus

846:  Spitual Healing Practicum
There are two possible options for this course. First, the students can use this course to conduct a pilot study in preparation for their thesis or
dissertation research. Second, the practicum may be used to conduct an in-depth field study with a faculty member of choice who agrees to accept the student and work out an appropriate plan of action and curriculum for this practicum.  Download Syllabus

849:  Beyond Mindfulness
“Opening your heart is your greatest power. Love heals. It’s who we are. Around us, within us, we are part of the energetic resonance of life.” –Chunyi Lin. The primary goal of this course is twofold. To experience
and facilitate the opening of hearts, promote healing, and develop intention in conscious direction of life energy through meditation.  Download Syllabus

850:  Principles and Laws of Psychic Energies
Students will learn about the principles and laws that govern psychic energies and how we can experience unnecessary moodiness and confusion when we are exposed to the toxic thoughts and feelings

856:  Esoteric Theologies
This course prepares students to research the academically neglected area of Esoteric theologies and discover ideas and practices to incorporate into their holistic spirituality. The course will survey the most historically influential esoteric theologies: Pythagorean, Alexandrian, Gnostic, Hermetic, Neo-Platonist, Swedenborg, New Thought, Christian Science, and Theosophy.  Download Syllabus

857:  Integrative Astrology
Astrology is understood through the simple and profound phrase, “As above, so below.” Your natal chart is written using the astrological symbols of planets and zodiac signs, but it expresses the deeply
personal language of your soul. It speaks to you as you.  Download Syllabus

858:  Overview of Medical Intuition
Students are introduced to the development and use of intuition and high sense-perception (clairvoyance) through discussion, demonstration, application and soul-level inductions.  Download Syllabus

859: The Intuitive Career  
This class provides an overview of intuitive careers from a panorama of traditional and contemporary perspectives. The elements of a
successful intuitive practice, including self-care and ethical considerations, are the essential core of this course.  Download Syllabus

865:  Perspectives in Transpersonal Psychology
In this course, students will be exposed to a wide variety of transpersonal pathways, both ancient and modern, that are directed towards the evolution of consciousness and the experience of oneness
and inseparability from the web of life.  Download Syllabus

867:  Holistic Approaches to Trauma
This course is designed to provide students with a holistic perspective of trauma including cognitive, emotional, behavioral, physiological, spiritual
and relational aspects.  Download Syllabus

880:  Intentional Transformation
Students will explore and experience techniques used in autogenic biofeedback and voluntary control. Students have the opportunity to acquire a life-long skill in modulating autonomic nervous system
responses, with intentional control of the sympathetic nervous system.  Download Syllabus

882:  Indigenous Healing
This course focuses on basic principles of indigenous healing with special emphasis on specific indigenous spiritual healing traditions selected by the instructor for each semester. Selected indigenous
traditions include, but are not limited to, Brazilian, Chinese, Hawaiian, and Native American.  Download Syllabus

883:  Mandala
This course provides students with an exploration of the history and experiential process of the Mandala as a spiritual science and art used for healing body/mind and spirit.  Download Syllabus

884:  Principles of Spiritual Direction
Students will explore, understand, and integrate spiritual direction/ companionship in their personal life so as to be able to accompany others on their spiritual journeys.  Download Syllabus

886:  Pastoral Spiritual Counseling886.pdf
This course will introduce students to the basic concepts of pastoral care and counseling, with an emphasis on self-care, brief counseling techniques for life traumas and grief, and spiritual disciplines that

887:  Sacred Ceremonies and Celebrations
In the natural cycles of human existence, from the joy of birth to the mystery of death, important changes occur throughout all of our lives.
Celebrants and ministers have the honor of bearing witness to these pivotal moments. Ritual deepens the experience of these life events, supporting significant transition and rites of passage.  Download Syllabus

900 Level Doctoral Research
Available to Doctorate and Post-Doctoral students only

994: Spiritual Healing Capstone  
During or just following the last semester of regular course work, all
students will take this course in order to integrate those components of all other courses they have taken as they relate to their individual research emphasis.  Download Syllabus

996: Preliminary Essays & Exam 
Students prepare a faculty-approved dissertation proposal for review by the committee prior to the Preliminary Exam as the minimum initial requirement for this course.  Download Syllabus

998: Research and Dissertation 
Dissertation research is carried out after the admission to Candidacy and upon IRB and Ethics approval. University guidelines and the research parameters of the degree field govern all aspects of the research project.  Download Syllabus
